Students are given the opportunity to avail of additional courses:

  • People Handling 
  • Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults 
  • First Aid Response (PHECC) 
  • Emergency First Responder (EFR) 
  • DIFE will facilitate further training as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and a Fire Training Week.

Aim:

This one year course provides students with skills and professional qualifications to pursue a career in the emergency services.

Entry Requirements:

Leaving Certificate, Leaving Cert Applied (LCA), Mature students or applicants with other equivalent qualifications
are welcome to apply.

Progression and Career Options:

This course qualifies students to apply for careers in the public service for fire and ambulance personnel. There are also employment opportunities with private ambulance and event support companies. The qualifications gained on completion of this course are internationally recognised. Students can also work as Healthcare Assistants. This course also provides common entry to a range of UK Universities and other courses in Institutes of Technology.
